Horizons Albuquerque is a transformational, community-centered education program proven to close the opportunity gap. Horizons Albuquerque started as Horizons at Bosque School where Steve was an art teacher.
Steve always strove to provide an atmosphere of fellowship and helpfulness, and he built an inclusive community inside and outside his classroom. Many of Horizons’ core values are directly inspired by the classroom expectations Steve created as an art teacher.
Students attend a tuition-free, intensive, six-week summer program on the campus of an Albuquerque area independent school and receive additional support throughout the school year. In small classes led by professional teachers, students dive into a rich curriculum with a focus on literacy, STEAM, social-emotional learning, and art enrichment. Swimming and other confidence-boosting activities break down barriers to success and expose children to new opportunities.
Students begin their Horizons journey as early as the summer after Kindergarten and return to the program each year through high school, building lasting relationships with their teachers and peers, and developing life skills essential for success.
Horizons Albuquerque is a 501 (c)(3) tax exempt organization.
