Elaine Arthur, friend
I met Steve at a holiday party in STL at Mares. There were lots of people, great holiday vibes and conversations. You could not help but notice that Mare had captured his heart and soul because his eyes light up when he looked at her. That may sound like something from a sappy movie but I witnessed it myself. On another holiday visit to STL we played a vocabulary game. Steve was very good at it and I think he may have won. He was fun and made everyone smile including the looser which may have been me.
Steve was generous. I remember that he volunteered to do some repair projects at a facility where his mother lived. They didn't have the budget to do what needed to be done so it was Steve to the rescue. It seemed like he was always doing something for someone else.
When my husband John and I moved back to STL we stopped to spend a day with Mare. I am so glad that I got to see where they lived. Steve had collected a number of rocks over the years and put them in the backyard in the most interesting pattern. It was really beautiful. He gave those unique rocks a place where they belonged. Only he could have created that.
What I loved most about Steve is how much he filled Mares life. You always want your friends to have the best life and Steve gave that to Mare.
I am fortunate to have 2 of his pieces that I look at every day in my office.
Steve, we all miss you. Most of all Mare.
